From 1st of October this year all English care providers will need to ensure that they comply with the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety as set out by the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). These new regulations replace the old National Minimum Standards that have been adhered to by care homes since 2001.

This means that all future inspections, complaints or care home registrations will be measured against a new set of rules that all care homes will need to be familiar with. Care providers will need to know what the changes mean for their business and what they need to do to ensure they are compliant.
