Getting into the Swing of Good Healthcare
New for the Bournemouth & Poole area, Sue Robathan, Local Director from “Music for Health”, will be demonstrating what a difference their musical workshops can make to people residing in care homes.
The interactive sessions which work on all levels to improve the health and well being of all attending are much more than just entertainment.
The workshops are based on some of the most leading edge research and findings on the positive and powerful effects that music and sound frequencies have on well being. An ever-changing musical program is backed up with activities that help exercise the mind, body and spirit and is tailored towards each group in question.
Many homes feature Music for Health monthly, some weekly and others bi-monthly. Pre-recorded music, musical instruments and props are brought to each session, which lasts an hour and consists of around 10 different sections where there is a balance between relaxation and activity, are fun and stimulating, provoke memories of bygone times and unite everyone present. On a deeper level, each session lifts the mood of those present, helps improve self-esteem and fosters better group dynamics.
