PRESSALIT CARE BATHROOMS HELP RESPITE RESIDENTS INCREASE THEIR SELF-CONFIDENCE
Specialist bathrooms from Pressalit Care have been installed in the Morewood Centre, a newly built community respite home run by Derbyshire County Council. Providing short stay accommodation for adults with learning difficulties and a wide range of special needs, the new centre and its facilities have been designed to enhance residents’ self confidence and increase their skills for independent living.
Allowing the 43 regular residents to benefit from the very latest advances in flexible bathrooms, Pressalit Care have installed their height adjustable, ergonomic washbasins, toilets, hand rails and grab rails in eleven bathrooms and shower rooms in the centre. Two of the assisted bathrooms also benefit from the innovative Pressalit Care track system, which allows for items such as the washbasin to be horizontally adjusted, providing space and ease of movement for wheelchair users and their carers.
Mrs Jane Abrams, the Morewood Centre manager says, “Our centre helps residents develop skills for independent living as well as offer much needed respite care. The new bathrooms reinforce this ethos, allowing residents to increase their self-confidence through being able to use the facilities with increased independence. Where the assistance of a carer is still required, the ability to adjust the position of the bathroom products to suit individual needs is an advantage.
“Residents may stay with us from one night to two weeks, so the flexibility of the bathrooms allows us to adapt quickly and easily according to the individual needs of the residents we have staying at any one time.”
Andrew Lowndes, sales manager for Pressalit Care comments, “Our in-depth knowledge of this very specialist market puts us in a strong position to address the important needs of the user with limited mobility. The installation at the Morewood Centre is a fine example of how a well designed bathroom can enhance the lives of those who need it most.”
