
Sheila is a qualified nurse and in the 1980s was the proprietor of residential care homes for the elderly in North London.
As Chief Executive of NCA, Sheila represents the interests of registered social care providers to government, implements policy on improving standards in the social care sector and represents NCA at conferences and to the press and media
Sheila sits on many national committees and advisory groups representing the independent care sector. She is also the author of a number of reports, most recently an introductory guide for health and social care staff to the Mental Capacity Act for the Department for Constitutional Affairs.
Sheila was awarded the OBE for services to Social Care in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2007.
