Sue Ullmann

Sue UllmannSue Ullmann took over as Chair of the National Association of Care Catering in September 2007, but has been an active member, primarily involved in the Northern region, for the last five years.  Sue co-ordinated the working group for the latest NACC manual on Menu Planning and Special Diets.  

The NACC has been greatly involved from the beginning in the implementation of the first ever Nutritional Action Plan and Sue was present at the launch by the DoH under the leadership of Ivan Lewis MP, Care Services Minister.  Sue Ullmann said that “the NACC firmly believes that there is a willingness to support the Action Plan and we believe that working together it will make a difference to the lives and dignity of the older people of our communities.

Sue has worked within the Elderly Care sector for nearly 20 years and is the Chief Executive for Harrogate Neighbours Housing Association, where she has overall responsibility for a 28 bed Residential Home and a 50 bed Sheltered Accommodation site which has recently developed an interim care facility. Sue is looking at future plans with other agencies in the provision of Extra Care Housing for the elderly.

Sue has 4 four children as well as a full time job, and continues to be committed to the development of standards of excellence and the dissemination of good practice within catering for the elderly.

Sue said that “ she is passionate about the fact that we need to get it right and we are optimistic that we are now beginning to see developments that will put nutrition and meals within the care sector as a priority”.
