Making an IMPACT – The Role of Evidence in Improving Services
As we seek to recover and rebuild from the pandemic, lots of people are asking how social care needs to be different and needs to be better in future. Using evidence of what works is a key part of this, but ‘evidence’ has to include the lived experience of people using services and their carers, and the practice wisdom of social care staff – not just research. While services should be based on evidence of what works, we also need evidence that is helpful in answering key questions and dilemmas from practice. IMPACT (‘Improving Adult Care Together’) is the new UK centre for implementing evidence in adult social care, and its Director, Jon Glasby, will talk about emerging lessons around what’s needed to get evidence used in practice, the barriers that get in the way, and future opportunities/support to do this differently.
