Catering teams within care homes face many challenges - managing nutritional and dietary requirements, working to set budgets, a reduced workforce and keeping waste to a minimum, all while balancing residents’ preferences and ensuring the food being served entices finished plates and full bellies – no mean feat by any standard! While we promote the use of a Three Week Menu rotation, the importance of introducing themed events should not be overlooked. 
 
There are many key dates throughout the year that provide you with the opportunity to mix up your menus to offer residents, and your catering teams, something a little different. 
 
For residents, these theme days will boost morale, keep mealtimes exciting and promote nostalgic discussions. 
 
For catering teams, theme days allow their creativity to flourish and can bring care home teams and residents together to celebrate various events throughout the year.
