Professor Emeritus of Nursing: Care for Older People, City, University of London
Julienne (registered nurse and qualified teacher) uses appreciative action research to bring about whole systems change and reflect on the lessons learnt from attempts to improve practice. Her style of working is evidence-based, relationship-centred, appreciative, and action-oriented. She led research in care for older people at City, University of London for 23 years. Since retirement (2019), she remains actively involved in research, has founded a charity to support quality improvement in care homes, co-chairs SCIE’s Commission on the Role of Housing on the Future of Care and Support, and works as R&D Advisor (National Care Forum) and King’s Fund Associate.
