Professor of Social Work and Head of the School of Sociology & Social Policy, University of Nottingham
Professor Rachel Fyson worked for over a decade in residential care, including as the manager of a registered care home, and these experiences helped shaped an academic career which has remained focussed on adult social care. Amongst other things, she has researched and written about learning disabilities, adult safeguarding, and the provision of support to adults who lack mental capacity. Professor Fyson worked as the Topic Advisor on NICE Guideline [NG189] ‘Safeguarding Adults in Care Homes’, published February 2021. She also works closely with the Ann Craft Trust, a charity which works to safeguard adults.
