Sharifa Lakhani is the Managing Director of Holmes Care Group Ltd - an award-winning family-run care provider specialising in elderly and dementia care. With thirteen care homes across Scotland and England, the Group is responsible for the care of over 750 residents and employs 1100 staff. Sharifa first joined Holmes Care as the Group’s first in-house lawyer and rose to become Managing Director, taking over from her father in 2016. As Managing Director, Sharifa has overseen the restructuring of Holmes Care’s existing management team by refocussing on the family-run feel of the company, with quality of care for the people Holmes Care supports at its heart. As part of her work to expand and improve services for residents, Sharifa also led the conclusion of a deal with Impact Healthcare REIT in August 2020, in which Impact bought nine of Holmes Care’s Scottish homes in a £47.5m sale-and-leaseback transaction, allowing the Group to continuously invest in their services while maintaining its proud tradition as a family-run business. Prior to entering the care sector, Sharifa was a qualified construction and commercial solicitor and holds an MBA from Imperial College Business School.
