Lighting and wellbeing in care: evidence and experience
Dr Shelley James will begin with a brief review of the science of the circadian cycle and why light is a powerful regulator of sleep, mood and daily functioning, especially in older adults living with degenerative diseases. Jo Cheshire, Director of Marketing and Communications at award-winning provider WCS Care, will share her experience of new build and retrofit circadian installations, highlighting both the wellbeing benefits for residents and the impact on staff routines. We'll discuss practical barriers, cost considerations, and whether the results justify the investment.
