Care workers are increasingly being asked to carry out delegated healthcare activities, ranging from medications to wound dressings or PEG feeds. This practice varies between region and organisation and in the homecare setting particularly, can leave carers feeling at risk and under supported. The Pro-Health study looks at the acceptability of, and appetite for, this increase in healthcare activities delegated to homecare workers. We consider the implications for the expansion of the role of the homecare worker and the impact this might have on staff, people receiving care and their family carers. This session will discuss early findings from the study and discuss next steps.
