The Care Workers' Charity
Care workers are the backbone of our social care system. Nearly two million people across the UK go to work every day to support some of the most vulnerable members of our society; often for low pay, with little recognition and without a safety net if things go wrong. The Care Workers' Charity exists to change that.
We provide financial grants, mental health support and professional advocacy for paid adult social care workers across the UK. When a care worker faces a crisis, whether that's an unexpected bill, a mental health crisis or a threat to their housing, we're there.
Our impact
In 2025, we awarded nearly 900 grants totalling over £350,000, with the average grant totalling £422. For recipients, this meant staying in work, maintaining housing, and avoiding financial crisis. Our annual Wellbeing Survey, completed by more than 2,000 care workers, found that 72% do not feel financially secure and nearly one in four has used a food bank. But the majority stay in this line of work because they are making a difference to those they support. That commitment deserves to be celebrated.
Get involved
If you'd like to support care workers directly, there is one event coming up worth knowing about:
The Thames Moonlight 10 Walk takes place on 11 Sept, a 10km or 10-mile evening walk through central London starting and finishing at The Oval.
Tickets are half-price at just £30, with the other half covered by the charity. Groups of 5 or more can join as a team, combine their targets, and unlock a lower fundraising target of just £200 each. The walk falls just ahead of Professional Care Workers' Week and is a brilliant way to raise funds while celebrating the workforce who keep showing up, day after day.
Still to come
Professional Care Workers' Week (14-18 September) is shaping up to be a landmark moment this year, with advocacy activity, events and plenty of ways to get involved. We'll be sharing more details soon.
