Ally is an advanced resident monitoring system for bedroom-based care, designed to give care teams greater visibility of what is happening when residents are alone in their bedrooms. Using acoustic and motion technology, Ally can capture sounds that may indicate someone needs help, including calls for help, pain or distress, agitation, coughing and breathing changes. It also detects movement and activity patterns, including mobilising, leaving the bed and other room activity, with settings that can be individualised to each resident.

This information helps care teams understand what has happened between care interactions, including activity or changes in a resident’s usual patterns that may otherwise have gone unobserved. Care teams can review Ally insight alongside other information about the resident, helping to build a more complete picture and support better-informed, more personalised care planning.

Privacy and dignity are central to how Ally works. There are no cameras or images and no live listening. Alerts are paused while care is being provided, and information is securely protected and encrypted.

Independent evaluations demonstrate the impact that better resident insight can have on care and outcomes. A Dorset Council pilot across six care homes reported 49% fewer falls. A Surrey Heartlands pilot across four care homes reported 50% fewer hospital admissions, while an NHS Digital evaluation conducted between 2018 and 2020 found 55% fewer night-time bedroom falls.
