Gadget Match was made by Socialudo to bring people together to think creatively about assistive products and gadgets and explores how they help support independent living. Service Providers, Care and Rehabilitation Teams including Occupational and Physio Therapists and, community groups, and individuals use the game to develop awareness and maintain independence in health and social care settings and at home.
It began as a physical card game, played face to face with a printed deck. This online version provides a platform for people to join and play together. Whether they are sharing a screen, a room, or connecting from around the world, players can enjoy the game with the same ease as if they were sharing a deck of cards.
Each round pairs a real-life scenario, drawn from everyday independent living challenges that people face, with a real assistive product that could help. Players select a gadget or device that best helps meet that ‘real life’ need. A judge for the round then picks the best match. The conversation that follows is where the real value sits, as players compare notes and recognise real life barriers to independent living, and discover gadgets they had never heard of.
