Scalable, CPD-accredited dementia workforce development for NHS services
6D Dementia® provides NHS teams with a shared, practical approach to understanding dementia, recognising changes earlier and responding consistently. Staff learn to consider what is happening, why it may be happening and what to do next, supporting more psychologically informed, person-centred care and decision-making. 6D Dementia - NHS.pdf
Our CPD-accredited workforce development programme combines three levels of support. Flexible online micro-learning builds core knowledge and confidence. Interactive care-planning workshops help teams apply learning to practice. Leadership and implementation support helps managers and senior staff embed the approach within pathways, organisational priorities and everyday practice. 6D Dementia - NHS.pdf
6D can be used across community mental health and specialist dementia teams, inpatient and mental health services, acute hospitals, primary care and partner care services. This supports a shared approach across organisational and professional boundaries. 6D Dementia - NHS.pdf
Developed by Consultant Clinical Psychologist and NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Fellow Dr Frances Duffy, drawing on more than 30 years of NHS experience and over 15 years leading dementia services, 6D translates psychological understanding and evidence into practical approaches frontline teams can use.
6D has demonstrated improvements in staff understanding and confidence and can be evaluated with NHS partners using workforce and service indicators, including staff confidence, use of the framework in care planning, escalation events and feedback from teams and families.
