Gemma is a specialist regulatory lawyer with extensive experience advising health and social care providers on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters. She brings significant insight from her time working in-house with key regulatory bodies including the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and NHS Improvement.
Now part of the Health & Social Care team at RWK Goodman, Gemma supports care providers, managers, and directors with practical, strategic advice on regulatory compliance, safeguarding investigations, and enforcement action. She has particular expertise in challenging regulatory investigations, defending enforcement proceedings, and advising on public law matters, including judicial review.
Gemma regularly represents providers involved in inquests, including acting for organisations identified as interested persons, and has developed a strong reputation for her clear, pragmatic approach and meticulous preparation.
Before joining RWK Goodman, Gemma worked at a mid-sized law firm specialising in education, health, and social care, where she advised on a variety of compliance and regulatory issues across the sectors. She is a regular contributor to industry publications such as Caring Times, Care Home Professional, and GP Online.
