Aurora Piergiacomi is a Policy Manager at the Care Quality Commission (CQC), where she has led on mental capacity policy since 2023. She has a background in mental health social work and has also worked in domestic abuse services and operational management roles. Prior to joining CQC, she worked for a mental health provider, planning for the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards. As part of the adult social care and local authority policy team, she also leads on regulatory policy for services for autistic people and people with a learning disability.
Marie Martin is a Senior Specialist in the Safeguarding and Closed Cultures Team at the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Prior to this she worked initially as an Inspector, and then an Inspection Manager within the Mental Health inspection team. She has a background as a local authority Social Worker, AMHP and BIA, as well as a role as a Named Professional for Adult Safeguarding in a mental health Trust. As part of the cross sector safeguarding team, Marie takes a lead on internal learning and development within the CQC for all things MCA & DoLS.
