Tom Surrey is the Director of Social Care Policy in the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). During the pandemic response he initially led on testing policy for Adult Social Care before moving to his current role. Current work includes overseeing development of Adult Social Care policy on Provider Markets, Models of Care, Workforce and other issues including safeguarding and co-ordination of the department's work on dementia. Tom has worked in the DHSC since March 2020 and in the civil service for 18 years. Previous roles have included corporate and policy roles in MHCLG, The Economic and Domestic Secretariat in the Cabinet Office and at Defra.
